Things to do on Valentine’s day during a pandemic

Oh yes, it’s this part of the year again. Valentine’s day. But what can you do as a couple when restaurants are closed and/or a romantric trip to a city isn’t an option? Most couples will be finding it hard to come up with date ideas during a global pandemic but don’t worry! Date nights at home can be just as feel good and fun as a night out. My creative date ideas for a lovely stay at home night will show you exactly how. Just focus on spending a good time together – all in the comfort of your home. Enjoy reading!

1. Indulge in a spa night for two – at home

Planning a couple’s spa night on a whim is absolutely doable. All you really need are massages, a good soak in the tub and a few lighted candles. But a little extra thought can go a long way in making the evening really sweet.

For the mood: Tidy up your space, dim the lights, light some candles and play those instrumental slow jams softly in the background. Spotify has some great playlists for that!

For the massage: Learn a few basic massage techniques. Use an unscented carrier oil like coconut, sweet almond or grapeseed. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Lavender is a good option, but get inspiration with these 7 essential oil blends if you want to make a blend.

For the tub: Go for bubbles, bath bombs or oils. Enjoy a glass (or two) of champagne together. When you’re out and semi dry, slather on some body cream and slip into a robe for the night.

2. Cook their favourite meal

There is nothing like a delicious meal and a full stomach. Preparing a dish that your partner loves is much appreciated—but keep in mind the after-hours fun. You don’t want to go overboard with the garlic. 😉

If you have no clue what you could make, here are 75 romantic Valentine’s Day recipes for a successful meal!

3. A classic movie night

Another tip is that you and your partner can go for the classic movie night, have some popcorn and put on a really romantic movie (like The Notebook) and enjoy yourselves. Valentine’s day is about spending a good time together.

4. Have a photo shoot to capture the love

You can make a photo shoot as simple or extravagant as you want. And because smartphone technology is so advanced nowadays, you don’t even need a professional phographer to do this. If you have a nice camera, by all means use it!

There are so many angles you can take when planning a date night photo shoot, from candid photos around the house to backyard shots in nature. You can even gather some props to make it themed or slip into something romantic for a more sensual photo session. And just think — how fun would it be to look back at these photos and remember the fun you shared creating these memories?!

5. Ask Get To Know Each Other Questions

The last tip I have is to ask “Get to know each other” questions, this will help in knowing your partner even more. You can maybe even discover new things about each other and try to manage these in the future. There are plenty of questions you can ask online and if you don’t know what questions you can ask, check out this article.

And when you’re done with that, you can also talk with each other about your future plans as a couple or even try to create a bucketlist of things you really want to do or achieve together. Fun is guaranteed!

This year’s Valentine’s Day might not be like any other in the past for which you cared more about what to give as a gift or what fancy place can you go to. And that’s a good thing. Experiences don’t need to cost money and if we get a bit creative, we can spend an enjoyable time at home with those we love. What are your favorite stay at home date night ideas for two? Do share in the comments below!

Lots of love,
Sofie ♡
